Hi! My name is Nicky Storr and I’m a British ex-pat living in Victoria, Canada. The photos on this site are my own, taken all over Canada, the western U.S. and, of course, England.
My interest in photography started while I was a Crime Scene Investigator with Avon & Somerset Constabulary in Bristol, England. Beginning with a 35mm film camera I learned to photograph crime scenes in such a way that those who hadn’t been present at a scene could accurately reconstruct later, it in their minds.
Learning how to use the camera’s various functions for investigative purposes – adjusting the flash to best bring out the detail in a footwear imprint, for example – eventually combined with my love of nature and led me into hobby photography.
Moving to Canada as a permanent resident in 2009 meant I had to leave police work (though I hope to return to the field one day) but the interest in photography that police work left me with has only increased.
Living in Victoria has been brilliant, as the city and surrounding areas have so many beautiful scenes to capture. From trees and flowers to animals and insects, I never run out of things to shoot.
Thank you for visiting my site and if you have any questions or comments please feel free to leave them!
